Separation Test

The MaiaSpace team has successfully completed a new test campaign for the structure that separates the two stages of the Maia launcher.

Using our dedicated test bench, specifically designed to replicate both gravitational and aerodynamic forces in real time, we put our upgraded hardware and software through rigorous testing across three key flight scenarios:

Nominal separation: validating the sequence under optimal trajectory conditions.
Degraded conditions: testing stability when the rocket faces an angular velocity, high angle of incidence relative to the wind, and an offset center of gravity.
Reusable stage configuration: evaluating separation with a heavier stage due to the re-entry kit technologies, which results in a slower separation sequence.

Compared to our previous campaign, both the system and our execution methodology have evolved. We introduced design improvements, new safety procedures and subsystem upgrades, executed with sharper objectives, tighter timing and stronger coordination.

At MaiaSpace, we build through testing: challenging our designs, learning from data, and turning those learnings into a better product. With this interstage separation design fully validated, we’re ready for the next milestone: Mechanical Load Tests.

Congratulations to all #MaiaSpacers involved in this campaign! 🚀
